Stair Keeper

Stairkeeper: Stop. Who would cross the Sleeping Dog must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see.
Shirley: Ask me the questions, bridgekeeper. I'm not afraid.
Stairkeeper: What... is your name?
Shirley: Shirley Smartypants Shenanigans.
Stairkeeper: What... is your quest?
Shirley: To seek some pets from mom.
Stairkeeper: What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Shirley: What do you mean? An African or European swallow?
Stairkeeper: Huh? I... I don't know that.
[he is thrown over]
Stairkeeper: Auuuuuuuugh.
Sleeping Dog: How do know so much about swallows?
Shirley: Well, you have to know these things when you hate bird, you know.

Little does he know...

There are 3 new tennis balls in the bag

Cruising on a brisk day

She was super happy to go to Target, Menards, and the Grocery Store.
But with her shaved butt, she gets cold easy.  So a blanket and warm lap
were the ticket.

Starving

Like goldfish swarming to the surface for flakes of food.

Bounce always has his head in the dishwasher. This was Shirley's second time.

Windy Day

Unpredictable flight paths for the frisbee.
Very challenging for the boy.
Makes him very happy.

So Relaxed

A deep Yawn.
First in weeks.

Escape from Kitchen Island

Out for a joy ride, cone free.

Her first car ride that didn't involve a vet!  She was pretty happy!

Our New Living Room

Maybe we should appear on Design on a Dime,
Or,  Canine Sisters Design Challenge.
A new HGTV series.

Foldable comfy chair on wheels.
The trying times.

Exhaustion

After a day of Shirley showing she's healthy
enough to bark all day and be a pain,
Bounce gets in a good nap.

Feather Duster

Today she had to be where everyone was.
If not she'd bark like crazy.
Which she did.
All day.
Over and over.
Again.
And again.

and again, and again, and again.

                          again.

                                                                         again.

                                                                 again.

I'm All Cooped Up (Elvis version)

Great Rockabilly song lyric.
"I've been mauled, I'm all cooped up."

Still not free indoors.
So frustrating for the Goof.
But her wound's are weeping.
Which is good.
Her left side is remarkably good.
Her right side, getting there.

I might as well turn on soap operas for her.

Fall Colors and Smells

After a good walk.
She can smell something out there.
Deer?  Squirrels? Mice?
Neighbors.  The cold north wind?
Just the smell of not being tethered to
the dining room table?
Freedom?

Outside

Doing well enough to start to go on walks
and appreciate the smells outside.
The raindrops are like tears.

Like Sands Through the Hour Glass,
and Tears in the Cone of Shame,
these are the Days of Our Lives.

Settling Down

Restricted activity for two or three weeks.

Frick.
What the hell happened?

Shirley was Mauled

This was after spending the night in surgery and a trauma center.

A neighbors dog, Barney, attacked her out of the blue.  Both on leash. All human's friends.  But he lunged, grabbed her hips in his jaws, and shook her in the prey/kill motion.  It happened in a flash.  Huge gash in her right flank, and severe puncture wounds in her left flank.  2-3 hours of surgery, overnight and a trauma center, then weeks of recovery.  I'm posting this at day 16.  She's doing quite well.  The left flank is in great shape.  The right side is improving.  Much better the last few days.  She walks like she always did.  And she's feisty.  So we just need the final stages of healing to happen.  And then the hair to grow back.  Then the Goof would be 100%.  We're getting there.

Inverse Canine

Bounce is in a deep sleep after so much stress. He has a cracked pad, so got a foot soak and then a sock.
He didn't know what to think of the sock but assumed meant he can't walk, so he stood in the exact spot we placed him after putting the sock on. 10 minutes later I asked "where's Bounce?"
He was between the kitchen island and the fridge. Crazy boy!

After the vet

Yesterday Shirley sat next to me at the Vet's Office for 90 minutes shaking the entire time. Luckily he removed the bandages for good. On the way home she was all smiles. An hour later the cone came off.

Bounce visits his family and meets a new member.

The shy Emily chases Mr. Exuberance.

By the way, there's no such thing as a "Miniature sheltie",
though we get asked that quite often with the Goof,
but now I wonder.... perhaps?  Emily, the first official "Miniature Sheltie!"

Gregg

After getting an earful, the boy reacted, and then got reprimanded.

Women.
